John R. Hawkins, IV, DPM
Dr. John R. Hawkins IV was born and raised in the backyards of Columbia Foot and Ankle Associates offices, in Silver Spring, Maryland. After graduating from Paint Branch High school, he then attended Hampton University, from which he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Dr. Hawkins then moved to New York, NY to begin his career in medicine where he attended the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, earning his DPM degree in 2004, while also being involved with numerous student government activities.
Dr. Hawkins completed a three year, podiatric medicine and surgery residency at Interfaith Medical center in Brooklyn, NY. At Interfaith Medical center Dr. Hawkins was exposed to a variety of elective and reconstructive, as well as trauma. He also worked extensively in the wound care clinic. In his third year of residency he was elected to be the Chief resident of podiatry.
Dr. Hawkins is glad to return to Maryland and join Columbia Foot and Ankle Associates, where he can help those that “raised” him. He is currently an Associate of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, and is board eligible by the American Board of Podiatric surgery.
