Stephen D. Palmer, DPM
Dr. Stephen D. Palmer is Columbia Foot & Ankle Associates' sports medicine specialist. He graduated from Kansas State University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Life Sciences. While at Kansas State, Dr. Palmer participated in intercollegiate soccer, track and cross country. He then attended the New York College of Podiatric Medicine where he earned his DPM degree in 1996.
Dr. Palmer completed a three-year residency program at Doxey Hatch Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. This podiatric surgical residency program was also affiliated with the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the University of Utah Hospital in Salt Lake.
Dr. Palmer joined the Patuxent Medical Group in Columbia, Maryland in August 1999 and worked there until he joined Dr. Ross Taubman in private practice at the Columbia Foot & Ankle Associates in Clarksville, Maryland in October 2000.
Dr. Palmer is an Associate in the American Academy of Podiatric Sports Medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons. He is also Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. He has lectured on a number of topics including diabetes, ankle arthroscopy and reconstructive foot surgery.
A current member of the Howard County Striders and an avid runner and soccer player, Dr. Palmer has won the Harvest Harrier 5K race in Howard County for the last four years. He also recently ran in the Dublin, Ireland marathon as part of Team Diabetes where he placed 187th in a field of over 6,700 participants overall. He is an assistant track and cross country coach at Glenelg Country School, and sports medicine consultant for "Accelerate Your Game" Sports & Speed Training.
